Behavior Talks: decoding your child’s behavior

Behavior is communication.
child development proverb

As parents, we want to meet our child’s needs; and we want to see them grow up to be good, healthy people. But whether we’re trying to figure out why they’re not doing something, or we want to understand why they are doing something, or we want to make them stop or start doing something, it’s easy to feel like we’re flying blind. What do they want from us? What do they need from us? Why aren’t we getting through to them??

The good news is that your child is already telling you everything you need to know! Every time your child acts or speaks, they are communicating their needs, their fears, their insecurities, their feelings, and more! When we can translate their behavior into information about their needs, we have everything we need to gain their cooperation and confidently guide them toward success.
